Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Australian comp featuring songwriting of Kev Carmody.
en.wikipedia.org...
Carmody had an Irish father and an aboriginal mother. Even in the late 1950s Australia strongly discriminated against mixed families. They were given a choice of either turning the kids over to an assimilation school or the mother and he and his brother being permanently moved to a island aboriginal reservation, Great Palm.

We had a neighbor back in the day who was a dedicated Gravely enthusiast, and couldn't stop singing their praises. It seemed like a fandom similar to the Leica camera and HP calculator ones.

And while I had an engineering background and mostly used the scientific calculators, I did pick up an HP-12C along the way (largely because it was the classic HP model which stayed in production longest, given the way it got embedded in the financial community as a standard tool)
