Speak Out | The Computer Revolution: Are Women Being Left Behind? | From the BBC show Voice of the People | 1984 | "Speak Out encourages young people from throughout the country to air their views about topics and issues that matter to them. Introduced by John Craven. Today's topic is to do with the rise of personal computers - why is the computer boom seemingly leaving girls out? With women and girls estimated to account for just one in 13 home computer users, it is feared that microprocessors are fast becoming male-dominated machines. It seems that girls are not taking much interest in the computer revolution. Is this really true, will it harm their future prospects? If so, what can be done about it?" With special guests Judith Hann and Ian McNaught-Davis. Speak Out: Micros and Girls, originally broadcast on 8 May, 1984. | 1:02:43 (MP3 | Pop-up) | |||||

@Krys (& all), mostly familiar with The Chrysanthemums material (great catalog there), yet am curious; did Terry Burrows also get involved with fellow like minded band “Deep Freeze Mice”? (as always, love your eclectic show!).

I sent this thanks to you earlier via another show (& thanks to WR, for the heads-up on your Mick Hobbs tribute - which I had randomly missed) =
“@KrysO: thank you for your mini-tribute ode to the exceptional talents of Mick Hobbs! Was saddened by learning of his passing to another plane of existence. Sigh😔. Collected as much of his early-mid career as I could find. Happily the prolific Mr Hobbs has left us quite a cornucopia of musical delights - was creative right up to his finale.”

I went on a WFMU semi-blackout from approximately 1995-2021.
Anybody have pointers to “BronwynC” related archives via show titles & or monikers.

It's not consistent though, sometimes a new name is listed separately, sometimes it just replaces the old one

In my brother's high school class, the computer was connected to the SUNY system. The students could send messages to other computers.

I took typing lessons on a computer in the early 80s on a program that my brother wrote.
