With Gus using some old "production"/"library" music in his backgrounds, he may have just revived the trend of using royalty-free music in commercials!

A short Coffee-Mate spot uses the well known Karl Jenkins track "Mr. Lucky" for its background:

for many years since childhood i considered the white album my favorite album.
but i was a child; so ob-la-di-ob-la-da and honey pie suited me as well as yer blues and savoy truffle.
but as time went on the Paul songs on that album that i didn't skip over dwindled to about 3.
on snotify i created "white album as a single lp". not a new idea, obviously. and it was difficult. there're so many great songs on that. ultimately i had to leave off revolution 9, which is a favorite - just because it's so long.
but all 4 Harrisongs made the cut.

The WhiteAlbum invents PostModernism in its wide sprawling pastiche of the whole scope of Pop Musics. Which is itself a Fractal of what TheBeatles did overall.

When “Elected” came out in’72 or so I became hooked on Cooper, and eventually had the whole back catalog, except for the first album, never located that one. Then after a few years I sold all 6 Cooper albums I had acquired (Muscle of Love was the end for me) to another kid for a total of 5 bucks. Frank Zappa was my new admiration. That only lasted 2-3 years for me too.

Besides former Byrds and Doug Dillard, that album features Glen Campbell, Leon Russell, Van Dyke Parks, Jim Gordon and others! Beach Boys sessions + Delaney & Bonnie players together.

Perhaps the people saying that to Gene Clark wondered why that country-folk musician wanted those high-falutin' polished-pop-perfection session players on his album.

SVP someone tell Guss that you have to pronounce Duras “Durasse”. The s is not silent. It’s from southern french, c’est comme ça!
