Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

That poor Munch screamer in the graphic above. Can't we get it back to its customary, normal horror?

Like The Stooges, The Dolls, Cheap Trick? You'll like the tune. The video is stupid, but videos tend to be stupid. Kinda like the combine harvester segment, though.

While you're in town, take note of the Well Fargo bank in El Cerrito, on the east side of San Pablo, north of Garfield and the Hotsy Totsy. It sits where a marvelous jazz nightclub used to operate way back in the day, Hambone Kelly's. There are decent live recordings from the venue by Lu Watters' Yerba Buena Jazz Band.

Thank you, johnk77, for reminding us of Nixon. (Really, I'm not being sarcastic.) We live too much in the present, and it makes us feel that our circumstances are so much more dire than those of the past, which are so easy to forget, to sublimate.
