Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Maybe nobody has braided, mashed and performed klezmer kumbia prog metal yet, but maybe they did. Who knows what all is flowering out there? An email that just came in from a local venue announces an "intergalactic balkan surf jazz trio...a strange, other-worldly cocktail of Balkan beats and Milky-Way mischief crossed with the American songbook, Hollywood film soundtracks, and more."

There was a great long American Masters on Glass.
I've found Glass to be transporting - evocative of the Apocalypse, not in terms of the violence & destruction - but in the transmutation of that into a metaphysical abstraction of a Hereafter...
