  11:07pm
Joe:

Kidding! Kidding.
  11:07pm
rachel jensen:

evan,i'm now officialy a GODMOTHER whooooohoooo!!!!!
  11:09pm
Danne D:

5:15 coming up from the Who?
"Count 5 or 6" from Cornelius?
I love themes, especially number-type themes like this.

Congrats Rachel!!!
  11:09pm
Amanda:

Joe, I heard crickets after that joke. Dan, you listen this early? Shocked!

Happy 5.5.0.9...
  11:11pm
Danne D:

woohoo I even got the 5th comment.
Hey Amanda, stayed around the homestead tonight so I'm tuning in early. Happy 5/5/9 to you too.
  11:11pm
rachel jensen:

thank you danne d. time to PARRRTTTTTTTYY!!!!
  11:11pm
Joe:

At this point, I'm not sure if I'm joking or trolling. It's that bad.

This song was in an awesome commercial for a product I can't recall.
  11:26pm
efd:

hi everyone! still getting it together over here, but great to see everyone's comments.
  11:26pm
Danne D:

what an awsome cover of the Atomic Rooster song!
  11:27pm
Danne D:

duh, Crazy World of Arthur Brown.

Wrong Carl Palmer group. *sigh*
  11:28pm
Amanda:

"Too rushed" to put together a good first set? Pah!
  11:29pm
Joe:

Question:

More "Hush" or more "A Day in the Life"?
  11:31pm
rachel jensen:

evan i'm a godmother,,,aint that groooooovy??
  11:31pm
Danne D:

There's an old sport adage about a coach who can take his players and whoop your team and then turn around and take your players and whip his team. That's what Evan Funk is to DJing. Seriously if you drop Evan in a well and threw 50 random records down there, he'd come up with an awesome set list by the time you pulled him up in the bucket.

Loving the old Electric Company riff (or Sesame Street was it?)
  11:33pm
Deaconlight:

Hey - say Happy Birthday to my dog Artemis!
  11:37pm
Joe:

I could put my own playlist, in here, if you want. That would make it plural.
  11:38pm
Deaconlight:

Artemis heard you. Bark!
  11:38pm
casel:

espero la musica de los peyotes...waoooo

rachel jensen:

efd now that i'm a godmother could you play some K.C. & THE SUNSHINE BAND?? i could always count on you evan,,,
  11:46pm
casel:

Hola marce....vas a trasnochar???
  11:47pm
efd:

rachel, as much as I love KC & the Sunshine Band that is a resource that must be tapped sparingly. But someday the time will be right.
  11:49pm
swinglib:

hola
casel....
  11:49pm
efd:

hola casel!

... and that's about all the Spanish I can muster right now. Which isn't good, considering I'm going to Spain in a few weeks!
  11:50pm
swinglib....:

que te parece hasta las 11.30....
  11:51pm
casel:

Good luck efd ...must be a grat place...im in Bogotá
  11:52pm
Susannah:

Hey, does anyone know what this bed music is?
  11:53pm
Susannah:

No, and that Outrageous Cherry song is lovely
  11:53pm
Danne D:

When you're in the groove, EFD, it all works man. If there's a repeat in there it just means that that's a particularly damn good recordr :)
  11:54pm
Deaconlight:

Yes - if a song is really good - especially if it is a newer song. play it as much as you feel it should be played. It's your duty as a Tastemaker. Repeat plays can help band exposure.
  11:54pm
Jessica:

you could play whatever your ears desire week after week after week and we would doubltess be delighted.
[tinyquake!]
  11:55pm
Joe:

The bed music is a sample from the song "Saturday Night Live" by Lordz of Brooklyn.

Which in turn in is a sample from the guitar line from American Woman by The Guess Who.
  11:56pm
rachel jensen:

do whatever you want to do evan,,it's your show,,,
  11:56pm
efd:

thanks Joe, I knew I could count on you.

And thanks all for your comments on the repeat-song questions!
  11:57pm
Joe:

I'm just trying to avoid studying for my final tomorrow morning. More questions, please! For the love of god!
  11:58pm
oli:

play a song however many times you want ev, as long as it feels right!
  11:58pm
Susannah:

I liked that Outrageous Cherry song so much I just bought the album from iTunes. Thanks for playing it!
  11:59pm
cantadd:

yeah i agree with everyone on the repeats, in fact make sure to play that condo fucks song again, its liquiiid hoooneey!
  12:00am
C:

i really like the yo la tengo version of that. the condo's sounded too much like the original
  12:01am
?:

Is "Fuckbook" an oblique reference to YLT's "Fakebook," maybe?
  12:02am
rachel jensen:

well evan i gotta skip out now,,i partied all day,,i was coverin for toni d. & wonder woman & cheri,,g'nite,,,enjoy spain,,,,,see you later
  12:02am
Joe:

No way, ?. I mean, it's two TOTALLY different bands!

The synth hook is driving me nuts. Does anyone know what it's from or was sampled by? Because it will seriously bother me.
  12:03am
Amanda:

Speaking of covers... nicccce
  12:05am
efd:

Joe, I've always thought it was their original. Although that doesn't really mean anything.

Goodnight Rachel, and happy godmothering.
  12:06am
Joe:

Nevermind, it was Kanye West. "Touch the Sky". Sampling Curtis Mayfield. Who I profess to be a huge fan of. I'm such a fucking poser.
  12:08am
Jeff-A Chusetts:

The goes the pink noise again........magnificent
  12:11am
porkie:

Evan, can you refer to them as condo fuuuuuuuuuuudge?
  12:30am
efd:

porkie, you may be on to something there.

And I will officially never worry about repeating songs ever again.
  12:40am
Danne D:

LOL efd, my team is still temporarily defying gravity. Though Barre is pronounced like Terre or Danne in terms of the 'e' on the end. It's actually a town i VT. :)
  12:41am
C:

yeah, i'm loving that new stadium
  12:41am
Laurie:

sadtrombone.com
  12:44am
efd:

oh, right, I knew that Danne!

Laurie, thanks for the sad trombone link!
  12:47am
Joe:

You've been saying all our names wrong!

the J is silent! SILENT!
  12:47am
Russell Lack:

wow what a cool playlist, first time listening to your show from Oslo, Norway ..... any idea why WFMU doesn´t offer an OnDemand per show option via web?
  12:50am
Janet H:

hey....Can I hear Super T-Bone by Jonathan Kane!
  12:51am
efd:

sorry, oe.

Hi Russell, glad you're enjoying the show and thanks for commenting! I'm not quite sure what you mean by an OnDemand option per show...?
  12:52am
C:

Hey, Russell. Have you checked out the archives of the programs? I think they might be the on-demand function that you're referring to. If you click on "back to the evan 'funk' davies show playlists" link on the top of this page, you'll all of his archived shows. they do that for all the programs. good luck getting any work done for the next 6 months.
  12:53am
Joe:

They do, Mr. Lack! Each show is archived, often within hours of it being over. It's not quite podcasting, though some shows are offered in that format, as well.

http://wfmu.org/table

click a show, any show. You will be rewarded.
  12:54am
Joe:

C, you're cramping my gig man! I'm procrastinating ova heah!
  12:55am
Danne D:

no problem, efd :) Barre Ks is kinda meant as a triple sorta play on my pseudonym, strikeouts, and the band so it's all good.

Btw, I'm to e-mail you what I think is the most stellar idea regarding someone we both know and admire :)
  12:56am
C:

haha. what are you the only one allowed to procrastinate over here?
  12:56am
Russell Lack:

EFD, C and Joe, thanks for the tips, was thinking more of a podcast format for listening on the move, but yes of course the WFMU online archive is also great. Got myself lost in Irene Trudel´s archive a couple of years ago, so look fwd to doing the same with this show...
  1:00am
dave:

i'm not sure it counts as russian roulette with the pet shop boys. i mean, spin the chamber, pull the trigger, you'll get what you've been getting for goin' on 25 years: the pet shop boys.
  1:00am
efd:

I think this Pet Shop Boys song is a winner! Who's with me?
  1:00am
capt.JAMES T KOIK:

i was listening to radio KAHN!!!---but transported here--phasers set to AWE AND SHOCK--love it
  1:02am
Amanda:

I've always really liked the Pet Shop Boys. I'm biased. But, yeah, I'm with you!
  1:02am
dave:

what amanda said.
  1:03am
Joe:

I totally liked that song.

Did you see that coming?
  1:04am
efd:

dave, you make an excellent point.
  1:14am
Danne D:

I'm fading a bit now, so I'll bid you all a good night and sweet dreams :)
  1:15am
efd:

Russell, because of legal restrictions related to streaming we can't offer most music-based shows as podcasts. But, there are some alternatives - email me (evan at wfmu.org) and I can give you more info.

Goodnight, Danne!
  1:20am
Amanda:

Aw, shucks!
  1:21am
Amanda:

Oh, sorry, didn't read Dave's original comment. Uhhhh, heh.
  1:29am
Laurie:

Just play a lot of music with harmonica solos around the house. They hate harmonicas! Apparently!
  1:41am
capt. JAMS T KOIK:

LOWTENNANT SPORK THIS DJ OUT OF HIS VUCKIN MIND--I RECOMEND WE MELT WITH HIS MIND
  1:43am
Joe:

Efd this is perfect study music. Wow.
  1:45am
KOIK:

there is neat video on line called "what if star trek created by contry folk"--SO FUNNY!!
  4:53pm
rory:

love the thunderheist - hadn't heard of them before. also, i don't care if you repeat songs, as long as they are good!
  3:47pm
Andy:

If the song fits in a particular set or has a great hook or theme that works from week to week don't worry about playing it several times over the course of a month. The song being one by Outrageous Cherry certainly helps as they are fantastic.
