	9:55am north guinea hills: I saw every game in 2002, that was hell w/ the 14 hour time difference, but I was a lot younger back then, so my body allowed me to get smashed at the pubs and still make it to work an hour late, then take a nap after work and repeat. fun times.

	10:22am Cecile: popo, Surly makes one of the best pilsners I ever drank, it's called Hel, which means light in German. Marvelous. And they make like 5 cans on it. :( Aw, dcp, that's sweet....

	10:27am Jennique: I have to say the best beer I've had is German. Jever and Berliner beer are my faves. Though Old Speckled Hen holds a special place in my heart. So torn, so torn. I felt so cheated growing up in the U.S. with Bud Lite and wine coolers. Blech.

He regularly eats a pre-match snack of black pudding, mushy peas and chips cooked in beef-dripping and washes it down with 5 pints of strong frothing ale served by cheery buxom wenches.

	10:32am Cecile: DEC, the Triple Rock in MN (run by some gusy from the Dillinger 4) has wonderful beer on tap, and they wree even a little ahead of the curve in getting it. It's awesome, good chili, Discharge on the jukebox, and a pint of Surly. Doesn't get better than that.

	10:37am Jennique: Cecile: I would most certainly concur about the Hen/crack likeness. Call it genius marketing, but I can't get the image of an old reddish-brown and gray specked hen out of my head when I order one. I think it adds to the appeal. I suppose I am a sucker for that kind of thing. The Belgian beers I've had were so strong, I felt like I was drinking wine. When I first moved to NYC there was a deli on the corner with an awing that read BEERS OF THE WORLD. What a welcome site that was.

	10:54am dc pat: I use to make beer but realized other people have more time to do it and theirs tastes way better than mine. That said, I made an amazing chocolate stout for my wedding. My neighbor thought I was baking cookies.

Not sure if the Cadillac Mtn Stout was as good as I thought it was, but in mid feb., it was worth risking icy death to drive out Rt.1A to Geddy's for a mountain of crabmeat & a stout.....
	10:57am Bad Ronald: Yeah the loss of 2nd Ave Deli was a tough blow. Bobito's was a tiny step down in the middle of the block on the north side. It was open during the 90's from what I recall. Yeah the food at Veselka is still good. I'm ashamed to admit it but I used to be a regular at Telephone's... they had some fine ales on tap.

	11:01am BSI: good question..... DC isn't famed for its local brews. Capitol City is a local biz and I'm no fan of their stuff. Typical hop-heavy brewpub crap. Will ponder this...
	11:02am dale: dc pat, how did you add the choco? i just ground up the blocks and threw it in the wort, not as chocolate-y as i wanted. i also discovered that if you run out of nice beer bottles that plastic litre soda bottles work fine. there's no club around me but when i go visit the inlaws the supply store hosts a club and they have all the equipment, stove, pots etc. makes it easier. the place is always buzzing.

	11:04am Jennique: I think I went to Telephone's once or twice. It's kind of a blur. I used to go to that corner deli a LOT, sadly, and pick beers by theme - like ones with animal names, one with a biblical reference, etc. McSorelys was a nice find back then. Amazed it's still around.
	11:05am dc pat: my DIY buddy uses plastic soda bottles all the time. I just chucked the unsweetened stuff right in and used some chocolate roasted barely too I think. I have the recipe written down somewhere but this was 15 years ago...

I used to make pale ale when I lived in Boulder and Brooklyn, no fresh supplies ( just kits ) in Finland. When I first moved to NYC there was a deli on the corner with an awing that read BEERS OF THE WORLD. What a welcome site that was.

Not sure if the Cadillac Mtn Stout was as good as I thought it was, but in mid feb., it was worth risking icy death to drive out Rt.1A to Geddy's for a mountain of crabmeat & a stout.....
	10:57am Bad Ronald: Yeah the loss of 2nd Ave Deli was a tough blow. Bobito's was a tiny step down in the middle of the block on the north side. It was open during the 90's from what I recall. Yeah the food at Veselka is still good. I'm ashamed to admit it but I used to be a regular at Telephone's... they had some fine ales on tap.

	11:02am dale: dc pat, how did you add the choco? i just ground up the blocks and threw it in the wort, not as chocolate-y as i wanted. i also discovered that if you run out of nice beer bottles that plastic litre soda bottles work fine. there's no club around me but when i go visit the inlaws the supply store hosts a club and they have all the equipment, stove, pots etc. makes it easier. the place is always buzzing.

	11:04am Jennique: I think I went to Telephone's once or twice. It's kind of a blur. I used to go to that corner deli a LOT, sadly, and pick beers by theme - like ones with animal names, one with a biblical reference, etc. McSorelys was a nice find back then. Amazed it's still around.
	11:05am dc pat: my DIY buddy uses plastic soda bottles all the time. I just chucked the unsweetened stuff right in and used some chocolate roasted barely too I think. I have the recipe written down somewhere but this was 15 years ago...
