	9:54am still b/p: Nah. Don't mind cold, but bike sleeps for the season once snow, ice, slush and salt have pretty much taken over the pavement. Very short trip, so an easy walk.

	9:55am annie: long ago, when i had no brain i used to ride my bike all year up here in oneonta. snow was really no issue unless it became slushy.

	9:59am annie: i stayed on the streets and became very alert for cars. walking is no issue really, unless it's more then a half-mile now. would love to find an old schwinn ..coaster brakes.
	10:00am Robert: The snow gets dirty no matter how much there is, so I don't see how too much of it promotes the brown thing.
	10:01am tim: I started riding my bike all year round when I moved to Central Illinois. It's flat and ususally snow/ice melts within a day or two. Today I didn't ride because it's about 4 degrees and didn't want to start any bronchial issues. Of course, most of my co-workers act like I'm skydiving without a parachute because I ride in "bad" weather.
	10:01am Robert: I have an old 1 speed with coaster brakes -- plus a hand brake for the front wheel.

	10:04am tim: Yeah, riding in winter tears the hell out of the deraileurs and brake pads. I've learned to keep my winter beater in one gear and take it slow and low.

	10:04am dc pat: The only thing that stops me getting on a bike is too much snow and/or ice everywhere. I use to not care about the ice either until I went down 3 times one day.
	10:05am still b/p: Big snow's fine, but bigger roadside banks last longer and hold more of the gravel, grunge and litter that's concentrated and revealed -- more browning up while melting down.

So, unlike others, I have taken a very non-possessive stance. All are welcome to touch the hem of my utterly adorable pet (for $5 a feel). Good way to supplement your income.
