A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

We're enjoying the warmest day of sunshine of the year so far here in London after suffering several grey weeks.

I had just put that Bee Gees song on a compilation for a drive to Somerset on Saturday... without having heard of Robin Gibbs passing.

Good day trouble, mid morning it was like someone turned on the sun now 30C. Crazy.

Isn't it odd that Lizzy Mercier Descloux not only wrote a song about tumours but died of one as well...

Thanks trouble, I'll try & reverse the thoughts.
Nathan, my car just read 30c. Honest.

Hi, all.
My husband had a succinct solution to last week's discussion as he is an uncomplicated man:
"If they are assholes and alive, don't give them your money. Don't subsidize assholes. If they are dead, who cares? Except for Hitler..."
hahahahah
  9:46am
pierre:

J'adore cette chanson !

Cecile:

Oh, I love this song. And Lee Dorsey
  9:59am
pierre:

That would be a nice idea, a homemade show, from each different room of a wfmu dj's house… with themes !
^^

@herb : "supercool" is still a fav word of mine. "chanmé" as well, which is reverse slang for "méchant" that you could translate by "wicked" in english.

Morning all. When Trouble plays her birdsong records, why not get a visual interpretation of said fowl, with LEGO??!!! http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/gallery/2012/may/18/birds-made-from-lego-in-pictures
  10:04am

hahaha
méchant was also a line of colorful, boxy clothes sold at the nordstrom department store. I had a few pieces from them back in the day...

wha? 9 euros to fly from finland to london?? crazzzee. why don't i live on that planet?
  10:38am
Adrian in London:

Because then you have to pay an extra 20 euros if you want to take a case, and extra €10 departure tax, and your 'London' airport will be somewhere in the Lake District. Or France.

Prounced "Kee-nya" I take it? I've actually eaten that, I just didn't know how to pronounce it. All hail the mighty FMU comment field knowledge base.
  11:12am
Adrian in London:

@Jennique Don;t they just? At job interviews they should just ask you if you like Lego, and if any applicant says they don't, the boss should just say, thanks for your interest, but you're not who we're looking for.
  11:15am
Priscilla:

pronounced "keen-wah" for some reason :-)
  11:20am
Jennique:

Adrian, I think job applications should be filled out in LEGO. Possibly a self portrait in LEGO, interests, etc. There was an ad campaign back in the day for Eggo frozen waffles, where the slogan was LEGGO MY EGGO. They should seriously consider ads of Eggo waffles made of LEGOs.
Other idea, since I work at a natural history museum, swap out all the dioramas of taxidermy animals for Lego ones, see who notices.
  11:20am
coelacanth:

(& technically not a grain,but a fruit.)..(i'm pretty sure)

quinoa is the yummiest, give it a try. trader joes has it now. super food, hails from the inca!
  11:26am
Adrian in London:

@Brian @Jennique Duplo? Only if you're three! So that's where Mercury Rev's Leggo my Ego comes from? I saw a great lego exhibition in Vancouver a while back, all about Egypt. There was a Duplo Sphynx, and a river scene in which a lego crocodile could be seat grabbing a little cat from the edge of the water!
  11:27am
Parq:

I would stand in line all day to get into Natural History and see all the animal dioramas re-done in Legos.

Dang, it's a Flickr page. My strangely Orwelian work puter is convinced that Flickr will warp my mind and destroy my work ethic. If it only knew how much work time I spend tapping out missives to the FMU comment field.
  11:33am
Jennique:

Adrian: wow, that was a really clever Egyptian set up of Lego!
Parq: looks like I have my work cut out for me. If only there was a way I could sneak in a smaller Lego animal in with all the non Lego ones. A little subversive vandalism a la banksy. All in good fun. Speaking of which, I did get to see his installation in the museum I work in up close and personal, called withus/oragainstus. Glad the guards did not throw it out!
