A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Almost 30 years ago (!) on KALX in Berkeley I heard a track that was a little girl singing "It's ever so stinky / oh my gosh peeeyew / I'm just sick and tired / of this kitty poo"

I imagine that those of you reading this are more likely than the general public to recognize this mysterious song.

Cecile-Jane & Michael Stern have struck again at the Jam Pot in the UP-this time they don't even bother to describe the food or the jam, only the fact that they're way up north. ...@Cecile: but they're much less disturbingly harmless than that Prairie Home Hellhound.
  10:39am
Cheri Pi:

Open up fake Banh Mi/ Pasty shack in Iron Mountain. Lure the Sterns there for a surreal lunch that will change the way they approach food reviewing. really fuck with their minds. maybe hold t hem hostage there too and make them listen to Khanate.
  10:40am
BSI:

Or those cackling foul devils that do Car Talk. Good riddance I say. They should have "retired" twelve thousand years ago.

Cheri, great idea. hahahahahha.
  10:41am
Titus in GA:

aww, thanks, trouble!
  10:41am

I occasionally laugh at Car Talk, though. I used to like the Sterns a lot, until I actually heard them talk. Now I look up good recommentdations on Chow.

Funny @Cecile. I'm clueless of the details/background, but nevertheless. Funny @Cecile.

I can appreciate what they did for American local cuisine while still wanting to punch them in the head.
  10:43am
Cheri Pi:

Or do it at the Konteka in White Pine, just before dessert, feed them the Sterns the black bears.
  10:44am

Smarmy radio personalities make great compost.
...OR SO I'VE HEARD.
  10:47am
common:

that darlenes song was amazing.
  10:47am
Cheri Pi:

Oh, it's not what it used to be, serviceable home cooking, the only game in town when you're near White Pine or that side of Lake Superior. My grandparents lived down the road so we ate there a lot growing up.
  10:48am
Cheri Pi:

BSI- we're looking for a server...must have gardening experience.
  10:50am
Cecile:

I think I'll invite the Sterns to my new undertaking in a few years: "The Shovel Headed Kill Machine Bar and Grill."
Ah, OK, Cheri. You know what tiny chain is kind of good? The Breakwater. They have excellent Wi-Fi and wonderful whitefish.
  10:52am
Cheri Pi:

I can't wait to go back, my family just returned last night from 2 weeks at Golden Lake The big news there is that a wolf pack was circling the area and at night the wolves crept up to their tents and growled at my mom's delicious 2 snack dogs. they slept in the cottage the rest of the week but everyone was pretty entertained by the pack sightings.
  10:54am

'77 is the only Talking Heads album I like. It's pretty great.
  10:57am
