A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Good Morning Trouble!
I checked out your Tofu the Chicken page, love it! Can't wait to live vicarious through your chicken escapades. Whose the photograph behind today's image?
  9:05am
ffrr:

Happy Tuesday T & all. How're the chicks?
  9:09am
fred:

Rineke Dijkstra! Nice choice, though a single photo isn't enough, her work is best seen with whole series. The beach one is great, the one with the bullfighter is strong as well
  9:10am
Titus in GA:

good morning Trouble. as always, its great to join ya for another Tuesday:)

yes fred, truly. and this one is sooo tiny, erg. i haven't had internet at my house since sunday and it is crippling me. never thought it would affect me this much. had to go to a neighbors to prep this pic. does anyone know how to pronounce her name? she is dutch, any amsterdammers in the bunch?
  9:17am
Cheri Pi:

HAHAHA!@ I love this!
  9:19am
Mike East:

I agree - too tiny. The blue of that ocean deserves to be enormous. Great photo though. and great tunes so far, trouble!
  9:22am
fred:

@Mike East: That's where going to a museum beats internet. I saw an exhibition of her work years ago, each room featured a different series. These are gorgeous prints too.

TROUBLESOME TUESDAYS!
  9:35am
Mike East:

here's the trouble I have...I commute to the city everyday. On my days off, its hard for me to motivate myself to make the trip to Manhattan, even though its only 45minutes away. Could be that I'm getting older, too.
  9:37am
fred:

Schirmer/Mosel has a beautiful book of Rineke Dijkstra's photos called "portraits".
She has done a video with teenagers filmed on a white background just next to clubs in the UK and Netherlands. Pretty good stuff, with two screens

there's a Janet Cardiff sound installation going on now, too, that I like to, but doubt I will, make it out to. But I will present the Guggenheim to my wife, and see if she'd like to take the trip with me.

I refuse to order grande, vente or whatever in Starbucks and order a small coffee. I used to think their orders were pretentious, but now I think I'm being pretentious by refusing to use their lingo.
  11:11am
buncotools:

All good on my end, that song is so haunting.
  11:12am
duke:

TIL, if you don't have a Facebook account, you're probably a serial killer http://onforb.es/Nk7a9O
  11:13am
Cecile:

duke, I order the way you do because I can never remember which is what. Tall always sounds big to me (I mean a tall beer is big, right?), so I am disappointed when I order a tall at Starbucks and it's not.
  11:15am
Cecile:

But then again, I usually only order the cheese plate at Starbucks. Their coffee is kinda ashy. But their cheese plate is great! So is their green brewed iced tea.
  11:18am
Jennique:

Duke - it took me a long time to ever step foot in a Starbucks. I found myself tricked into walking in one at a Barnes & Noble. Finally I caved and actually bought something there, but I still refuse to order by their terms. It just feels fake, like I am putting on an accent. I'm all set up for being a cranky old lady.

I like it and think it's important that there are Facebalkers and Starbalkers.
