A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

The crisper air persuaded one to be less bare at breakfast this morning. And then a layer for biking marked a change.

Odd teen-age memory from 38 years ago goes with that last song: I was riding hunkered down and wadded up behind the rear seat of an MG midget (without the top open) while a passenger laughed and pointed out how the original sounded like "slap the baby."

Morning all. Donned the first jacket of the season as it was actually chilly this morning. A chestnut colored leather affair with wide 1970's lapels and silk lining, underneath a peacock colored dress with a high asian button collar and brown sandals.
BTW - great art as always. They look like two friends chatting on the street.

Merci bien Troublette. But to be honest, I am like the Von Trapp children and have play clothes made from curtain material. What I wear on the bike is altogether different (and smelly) so I change once I get to work. Aren't you glad you asked?!?

Soft eggshells, could be a sign that they lack calcium? As gruesome as it sounds, I think you can give chickens washed egg shells.

Once again you have sent me to David-Lynch-creepyland with this song, I am a heart of a teenage girl. I picture the singer walking around in a Doris Day outfit, singing to her still beating ripped out heart held in her killer's hands.

You should be able to get a bag of crunched-up seashells. The chickens naturally peck at them and get their calcium. Yum!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am

we added oyster shells to the feeed, but i don't think it is calcium prob, since it has only happened twice since june. i think it's a fear thing. delicate creatures these hens...

Oyster shells or grit'll do. Try and take out any eggs they start eating to avoid bad habits starting.
Ours are still off-lay. I'm going to have a serious word with them next week. It will probably be 'pusillanimous'. I love that word, the right colour for an egg.

Oyster shells, yup. Truth be told, chickens is pretty dumb. Kinda cannibals too. If one shows blood the others will peck it to death. Then ya hafta buy this red gunk that you rub on the wound and it's super bitter and the others stop pecking at it.
