Listener comments!

  9:07pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Hiw does Sparka appeal so much to me and the rest of his catalogue leaves me cold?
  9:07pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Hello Evan!
  9:08pm
SteveL:

DAMN, this is a great song.

I missed Graham Parker at the time. Found him again in the mid 90s. Always knew about him, just never dove in till then. Seems like a great live performer.
  9:08pm
john:

How many times I should have taken Graham's advice....
  9:08pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

How does spelling elude me?
  9:16pm
SteveL:

Think Lux Interior ever listened to Neal Ford & The Frantics? I do. At least once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm
efd:

hey everyone, thanks for tuning in! Barkevious, there are some other bright spots in Graham Parker's catalog but I agree that Squeezing Out Sparks is probably the most solid album overall.
  9:28pm
PB:

Brian Wilson Shock Treatment gets the award for best band name. I always thought the Brian Jonestown Massacre was pretty good but this is even better.
  9:31pm
john:

Not even the best band name incorporating another musician's name as long as Deathray Davies is remembered.
  9:33pm
steve from SF:

A tribute to B-Weezy, Fear the Beard. Gets his own band name. Go Giants!
  9:34pm
PB:

Davies as in Evan or as in Ray and Dave?
  9:41pm
john:

Now that's not the Sweathog album beloved of junior-high age rockers because of the sleeve's quite large artist's rendition (not drawn to scale) of a butt, right?
  9:43pm
james:

love apache dropout, maybe catch them at cakeshop sat.
  9:44pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Ok, Heat Treatment.
  9:45pm
Joe D.:

you know, I'm not exactly Dolemite with the ladies, but somehow I don't really think this would be a very effective pickup line.
  9:47pm
eddy:

Re. Graham Parker: I'm going to guess SOS is indeed a Rumour album. One of the first lessons I learned working at a music magazine many years ago is that label copy is nearly always gospel, since art directors and cover designers often take, well, "artistic license" when it comes to band names, song titles, etc.
  9:49pm
john:

I'm going to be all practical and stuff and suggest that if the guys from the Rumour are playing on the record, it's Graham Parker and the Rumour, but I'm simplistic like that.
  9:50pm
john:

For the recoard, as it were, they are.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm
efd:

eddy, I like that rule of thumb; john, you beat me to the punch confirming that the Rumour are indeed playing on the LP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm
efd:

Joe D., you make an excellent point.

james, if you go tell them Evan "Funk" Davies sent you! or something...

evening steve, PB, Barkevious, SteveL and all! Nice to have you here.
  9:53pm
john:

It was quite the popular elpee in certain circles at GHS circa '79.
  9:54pm
Richard from Venezuela:

great rock track by the darkness.
  9:54pm
SteveL:

Most awesome vocal riff EVER on the chorus.
  9:55pm
Frank:

efd, could you play some Fotomaker?
  9:59pm
some other guy:

I question your knowledge of IL geography.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm
efd:

It is certainly open to question.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm
efd:

Frank, great request! I'll have to see if their albums are in the FMU record library, since I didn't bring them from home today.
  10:04pm
steve:

hey all... just got in.
  10:08pm
EL:

Shonen Knife and a Superchunk cover? Yippee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm
efd:

  10:08pm

  10:22pm

  10:24pm

  10:30pm

  10:41pm

  10:44pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Disco Nap may be the best song ever.
  10:44pm

  10:45pm
bloopy:

how do u disco nap
  10:48pm
Julie:

it's a nap you take before you go to the disco
  10:50pm
Holly in NC:

Or maybe it's a nap you take while wearing suspenders, satin shorts, & roller skates.
  10:51pm
steve:

Vince Aletti, who was a disco oriented music writer in NYC is the late 70s, said a disco nap is a quick nap taken mid-party late at night so you may rest up enough to continue to disco the night away.
  10:52pm
steve:

...probably while wearing roller skates
  10:53pm
bloopy:

ah i never been to a disco ever.
  11:03pm
steve:

dam.... wish i could make that show at Death by Audio on Friday! that sounds amazing.
  11:09pm
Danne D:

(Actually I wasn't gonna call in - too busy a time of year for me)
  11:10pm
Rickwaukee:

I'd like you to hold Ticket Salad Sandwich Time. I'd like you to hold it between your knees. Double good next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm
efd:

Well I never!
  11:16pm
Rickwaukee:

I bet you don't! [Sweeps all the glasses off the table and onto floor.]
