G:

Gee, this sounds kinds SEVENTIES...
  9:04pm
SteveL:

Aaaaaaand #121212concert is left behind. Giving is good, but we all have our limits.
  9:04pm
johnk77:

happy soundcheck day

efd:

Hey steve, G, stevel, johnk77 and everybody! Thanks for forsaking the concert of the century and tuning in to my humble radio show this evening!
  9:10pm
sweet cheri:

happy holidays evan, i'm ready for a super-sized funky show..btw evan could you please give us a sample of what you'll be playing next week on your xmas show tonight?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm
efd:

No samples! All holiday music is confined to next week's program.
  9:13pm
Thierry:

Hi efd and listeners!
  9:15pm
SteveL:

"In the Congo"=soundtrack for Jon Bon Jovi. Mildly surreal.
  9:15pm
G:

You know how many news stories I am gonna see and skim about that concert in the next few days? And I've all those artists a zillion times. No need.
  9:17pm
steve:

i havent been this excited for a holiday special since Michael Goodstein's 2 hours of unknown Halloween themed disco records
  9:17pm
G:

That is some piano solo right there (Zaine Griff)
  9:17pm
sweet cheri:

evan, you have no idea how much i'm looking forward to next week!
  9:17pm
SteveL:

Roger Waters with Eddie Vedder was OK. Still, G is right, musical history is unlikely to be made tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm
efd:

steve, I hope you'll still be excited if I tell you that it's not going to be an all-disco Christmas show! :)
  9:20pm
G:

@SteveL: You just gave me my first item for "find on youtube tomorrow." Bet my grand total of youtube views will add up to a small percentage of the whole concert's running time...
  9:21pm
steve:

efd... of course! you are my greatest supplier of unknown rock and power pop... an efd xmas show thrills me to bits
  9:22pm
G:

i'm kinda guessing cheri will tear herself away from reading "Self" magazine for next week's show
  9:23pm
john:

So in two words, why I'm here and not watching the concert? Waters (or, well, nearly anyone else there). Shoes.
  9:23pm
sweet cheri:

evan,,i just love the holidays don't you?
  9:24pm
SteveL:

efd: Have any Spooner? Now known as Garbage? Not necessarily a request, but certainly a poppy regional compatriot act to the Shoes.
  9:25pm
steve:

i think its only "the concert of the century" for people who stopped paying attention to music 20+ years ago...
  9:26pm
john:

And stopped caring long before that.
  9:26pm
SteveL:

steve: How could you say that? Oh, wait, here comes Clapton.
  9:28pm
G:

the concert of the last century, it seems like
  9:29pm
steve:

hahaha! nice one G!!!
  9:30pm
Thierry:

Yo La Tengo on the front page of the NYTimes (web)!
  9:31pm
SteveL:

Was that "Jack Cougar Mellencamp"?
  9:33pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Jaaaack Cougar Mellencamp...
  9:35pm
G:

I think that's been updated to Milf Cougar Town Melon Camp
  9:35pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Nothing more fun than making fun of a nasal midwestern accent.
  9:35pm
jersey boy in nicaragua:

ok, i know it´s not cool, but, can someone help an old expat out with a place i can easily streem the most uncool concert of the last century?¿
  9:36pm
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I remember seeing The Bongos on a Nickelodeon show hosted by Fred Newman in the early 80s. Nickelodeon only broadcast 12-15 hours a day back then.

  9:38pm
steve:

am i the only one who doesn't know what the sound clip of awkwardly spoken band named comes from? my first guess it that it was some censor / anti-rock person talking about evil current bands in the 80s.
  9:39pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Evan and Funk Fans!
And thank you johnk77, Happy "Soundcheck Day" to you all too! :D

steve: see here, 4th cut: t.co...
  9:43pm
Dave B:

While I may be watching the 3x12 concert, i did wanna swing by and say WASSUP EFD!
  9:46pm
sweet cheri:

evan please don't think i'm shallow but i'm not watching the concert cause i think it's waste of time,, i'm listening to your show instead.
  9:46pm
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I thought that clip was Michael J. Fox reading a master list of Grammy Award nominees from the early 80s.
  9:49pm
Matt from Springfield:

Great Spyrals! They have a real 80s alternative rock feel to them. Are they a new band or is this just a new release?
  9:54pm
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Roy Thomas Baker was my favorite Dr. Who.
  9:54pm
Mildred:

I like those Twerps.
  9:57pm
groucho:

Not gonna lie, I'm buzzing for the Nirvana reunion with Paul McCartney playing Kurt, but I simply cant watch the rest of the cheesy concert, raising money for one of the richest parts of the world while famines in africa get overlooed. I'm in England, so I can't complain, my life's pretty sweet too, but jesus christ when my town floods (every year) we dont get the rolling stones to come play and expect Nirvana to reunite
  9:58pm
groucho:

(I should add that I donated to wfmu, I'm not completely against New York/New JErsey, I just have my priorities
  9:59pm
cooh john:

mmarelous mmusic, mmy mman, evan!
  10:02pm
Holly in NC:

Mick Jagger IS Dorian Grey. Holy Christ. Dang.
Hi efd!
  10:05pm
Rickwaukee:

@groucho - try once to understand the scale - not really like your town flooding
  10:05pm
sweet cheri:

hey holly, happy holidays!
  10:06pm
Holly in NC:

Hello Cheri, best wishes to you also.
  10:07pm
steve:

wow, metz, heavy
  10:08pm
SteveL:

Holly: Mick took over the gig after Dick Clark died.
  10:08pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Holly!
If MICK is Dorian Grey, I'd hate to see that picture!!
  10:09pm
john:

The picture's on lead guitar.
  10:10pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Is this sampling Unknown Mortals?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm

  10:11pm
SteveL:

John: FTW!
  10:11pm
Holly in NC:

@john - zing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm
efd:

whoops, the rimshot was for john. Barkevious, not sure about that - the CD we have doesn't have the full insert booklet.
  10:12pm
steve:

hahaha, nice
  10:13pm
john:

I'm having way more fun with this concert than if I were actually watching it.
  10:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

@john "The Late Ron Wood"!
  10:15pm
sweet cheri:

evan your show is much better than watching the sandy concert..
  10:16pm
sweet cheri:

happy holidays ,holly!
  10:17pm
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I love this new Lamps album. I believe it cannot be played loud enough.
  10:17pm
SteveL:

Lamps! Best sound track to Alicia Keys EVER!
  10:18pm
cornertavern:

Evan, thanks for rocking tonight!!!
  10:21pm
john:

My facebook friends are falling into two camps right now. The fans are saying "what a great voice Alicia Keys has" and the musicians are all "get that woman Pro Tools."
  10:21pm
Matt from Springfield:

"an irrational fear of sailors" works! In fact it's better than works, it's great!
  10:22pm
Rickwaukee:

an irrational sale of Führers?
  10:22pm
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Digital download has it listed as "An Irrational Fear Of Sailors." It's the third track.
  10:25pm
Matt from Springfield:

CommentEERs! Thanks EFD for promoting that word, I like it myself!
Thanks BGZ!
  10:25pm
Matt from Springfield:

Whoa Evan - don't go all Nat Roe on that airhorn!!! ;)
  10:27pm
Danne D:

Hi Funk Friends :)
Hi EFD :)

Evan, I had a question...
  10:28pm
Danne D:

...what number comes after 12 12 12 ?
  10:29pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Danne!
Funk Friends, I like the sound of it! Less 'fan'atical, more friendly...
  10:29pm
Matt from Springfield:

That depends Danne, what "base" is the system in? :)
  10:31pm
Danne D:

We'll go with base 10, Matt :)

What comes next...perhaps the ladies can help with this one?
  10:32pm
Matt from Springfield:

"perhaps the ladies can help"? I sense riddle!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
efd:

I see what you're driving at, Danne, but it's not happening!
  10:36pm
SteveL:

Hey. The Who has Keith Moon in a can! (Not sure there's a punchline to this one.)
  10:37pm
Danne D:

8( 8( 8(
  10:37pm
sweet cheri:

happy holidays danne
  10:38pm
Danne D:

can't fault a guy for tryin' :)

Of course next year being '13 and all, I hope it will be appropriately noted then :)

Btw VAN says hi, but alas the #121212concert has captured him - we're in his heart though he says.

Hiya cheri, happy holidays to you too.
  10:39pm
Danne D:

I like the idea that someone my pro-EFD tweet with the #121212concert hashtag would somehow make it up on that stage above the who #notlikely
  10:44pm
Danne D:

Maybe I am good at what I do as I was able to get a compliment from Van in DC for Friday's Sandy Benefit via an oblique reference :)
  10:45pm
steve:

best rock song of 2012 - Television Personalities by Red Mass... think I may have heard it first on this very program...?
  10:46pm
Skirkie:

Oh, I bought this Divine Fits album after listening to one of you 'FMU DJs play it within the last two weeks.
  10:46pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Danne: BWHAT! NO Moody Blues??! What kind of 121212 concert is this? ;)
  10:47pm
SteveL:

Daltry has unbuttoned his shirt. Still wearing a sports coat.
  10:48pm
john:

Can't see the truss?
  10:49pm

  10:55pm

Danne D: Saving your best stuff for Twitter? Daltry's Janet Jackson moment?
  10:55pm
steve:

omg i love this... also, a disco band called Chrome who has a song title that sounds like it would belong to the other Chrome... brilliant
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm
efd:

ha, no surprise that Joe beat me to this one!

Hey Loretta, thanks for checking in! My pleasure to play that song tonight.

steve, the Gap Dream LP is phenomenal but just for the record "Generator" is only on the single.
  10:58pm

this song is pretty negative about planet earth ... is this sung by the Hale Bopp cult members?
  10:59pm
Kevin Youkilis:

It's so funky up in this joint
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm

Ah, but this is a TWELVE inch, not 7! Seems longer this time!
  11:00pm
steve:
