Hi Richard, hi Pine! Thanks for listening - I hope I haven't peaked too soon.
  9:11pm
steve:

hey all!
  9:13pm
steve:

id really like to hear the backstory of how Billy Gibbons came to put out a split with such artists, on such a label
  9:13pm
SteveL:

Ya just don't hear Moon Martin on the radio all that much.

God I love WFMU.
  9:15pm
Holly in NC:

Solidarity in beards?
  9:16pm
steve:

haha... good point Holly
  9:17pm

hi steve, SteveL, Joe D. and hi/you're welcome BDR and Holly! Thanks for listening!
  9:31pm
Pine:

Did Pussy become Black Widdow or was that Pesky Gee!?
  9:33pm
Pine:

It was Pesky Gee!, always get them confused
  9:35pm
john:

Hey Evan! For the record, Mickey Gallagher also played on a couple Clash albums and toured with them. I'm also going to go out on a limb and say Talk Talk Talk is my fave P. Furs elpee.
  9:41pm
Joe D.:

love love love love love this new Twerps.
  9:41pm
chad from oregon:

Good evening all from Portland.
  9:47pm
mbrooo:

OH YA! PLAY THE GRUMPIES
  9:50pm
Barkevious Shanazz:

Mike "Cardinal" Krol and White Wires in a death battle for the greatest song of the last 50 minutes.
  9:55pm
Amanda:

Go to the Bell House and wash Norton 45s! I washed a bunch of LPs the other week. It was a good time.

Rub a dub dub!

Droll:

Jobson?! Gotta check the "Prog Rock" box off now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm
efd:

ha, I can tell Danne D isn't listening right now or he'd be all over that. Hi Droll, and hi Amanda, chad, Barkevious and everyone else!
  10:09pm
SteveL:

How is neighborhood life around Jersey City? Things still piecing together?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm
efd:

I'm not the best person to ask since I'm really only in JC on Wednesday nights, but at this point I think the biggest issue is that the PATH train to NYC only runs until 10pm. Not sure when they'll get back to 24-hour service. And Hoboken (next town over) still has no PATH service at all.
  10:14pm
Droll:

DanneD and I are probably the worst offenders, but WFMU DJs seem to be awful sympathetic to prog. Some will even apologetically admit they like it.
Killer Neil cover (I supplied my own HUuuuhh's)
  10:15pm
Danne D:

Hi Funk Fans :)

So you mean I missed Eddie Jobson in that small window b/w getting out of my car at the Starbucks and getting my drink and my computer up and running!?!?

Thank goodness for the archives :)
  10:16pm
Danne D:

Hi everyone :)

Hola Ricardo, glad to see you here :)
  10:16pm
Danne D:

Hi Amanda too :)
  10:17pm
Joe D.:

almost definitely gonna buy this record. Despite my objection to Burger Records.
  10:17pm
Danne D:

WFMU is leading the Prog Revolution, Droll :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
efd:

what? How can you object to Burger records?
  10:18pm
steve:

play some Starcastle
  10:19pm
G:

or not :-P
  10:20pm
Danne D:

Droll, did you see this? I'd be inclined to go except that I really don't like cruises (can't swim and there's the whole the Captain is actually the law of the land deal) and then there's the fact that this cruise would be full of prog rock fans:

http://abcnewsradioonline.com/music-news/2012/10/16/lineup-announced-for-yes-headlined-prog-rock-cruise.html
  10:20pm
Droll:

DD, Keep acting like prog is perfectly normal. Just like "Disco Sucks", it will pass and eventually we will be rewarded for our preservation efforts.
  10:22pm
Danne D:

Yup, I'm telling you Droll, 2012 was a big year for Prog Appreciation.

Btw, I love that said cruise was actually foretold here in this thread a year earlier: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=82097
  10:23pm
Danne D:

http://cruisetotheedge.com/
  10:25pm
Joe D.:

A. I object to the cassette fetishism. I love cassettes, but I feel like a 7 dollar cassette pressing of something thats already on vinyl or cd (on another label no less) is essentially pointless.
B. I had a group of friends (one of which is a notable FOT) drive from NJ to Austin on the promise that they could film the climax of their mockumentary at Burger's SXSW showcase... only to arrive 3 days later and get a text message saying "Well, you can really just film it anywhere and say it's SXSW...
  10:26pm
Joe D.:

they sign alot of really great bands though I'm hating on them as I continue to paypal them all sorts of $$$
  10:27pm
Droll:

DD, I saw that cruise, not really my thing either. I did see UK (Seattle) a few months ago, and Prog bands hold up well over time, so it might be good entertainment. I just can't handle 5,000 prog rockers at once. For a week. On a ship.
  10:29pm
G:

What's the over-under on number of suicides off of that cruise ship? :-P
  10:29pm
Danne D:

LOL Droll exactly. Can't imagine the best M/F ratio there.

Didn't realize that UK was touring as well - that would be fun to see actually, I think. Where did you see them in Seattle? Crocodile?
  10:30pm
john:

Over/under is "three too few."
  10:33pm
steve:

i cant help but wonder what a Tangerine Dream set sounds like in 2012
  10:34pm
Droll:

G, That's a self-selecting audience, your vulgarities and horrors are another man's pure pleasure.
D, Triple Door, best hall in town. The M/F ratio is inversely proportional to the on-stage wanking.
  10:34pm
SteveL:

@G: Good question. So many hopes to be dashed.
  10:35pm
G:

i probably know more about Yes than anybody here. but i wouldn't be caught dead on that cruise. 0:-)
  10:35pm
G:

@steve: on youtube, search "tangerine dream 2012" for a sample
  10:37pm
Droll:

. o O ( See what I mean -- they're all closet prog fans! )
Stop apologizing, prog is perfectly normal music!
  10:37pm
Danne D:

Prog Rock Is Good For Your Head
  10:38pm
Mrs. Horn:

I'll be on Lido Deck.
  10:38pm
Droll:

DD, Don't overdo it. It's normal. Everyone does it.
  10:39pm
G:

See what I started? Months ago, I mentioned what happened to Mrs. Horn on a Pseu Braun comments board, and someone really took it to heart LOL
  10:39pm
Danne D:

I remember a Best Show chat where everyone was out-progging each other (for example my first car was a '71 Blue Ford Maverick that I dubbed the Tarkus).

That competition basically stopped when someone noted that they had learned like the tabbing for 3/4 of Tales from Topic Oceans
  10:41pm
Danne D:

@G - heh these comments boards are amazing for that sort of thing. I was traveling a couple weeks back and made like 1 comment and it proceeded to divert the entire comment board for the next hour I think
  10:43pm
Danne D:

(Meanwhile as we yammer on, EFD is providing yet another kick-ass set)
  10:43pm
Carolyn:

Hi Evan. Please play some Titanics next.
  10:43pm
davefromknoxville:

Never fear, EFD, dfk (also known as #608) is here!
  10:44pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Acdc need to dump the slob in the hat and hire the dude in Upper Crust.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
efd:

Welcome #608, I have noted your attendance!

Hi Carolyn - I wish I could!
  10:46pm
Chop Scott:

Echoes of the Boston heyday...Glad Nat F. is still out there delivering.
  10:46pm
Carolyn:

Damn.
  10:49pm
SteveL:

All three singers for these bands have a great higher/nasally quality. Could that be the reason for grouping them in concert? Or am I just high?
  10:49pm
G:

That's not an either/or, steve. :)
  10:50pm
john:

Because they're touring together, they just all got colds at the same time.
  10:51pm
G:

"The Live Show Set"

Danne D:

This website has its priorities in order: http://www.musicstreetjournal.com/cdreviews_main.cfm
  10:52pm
SteveL:

G: It depends. @ John: Lots of germs on the road, that's for sure.
  10:55pm
Rickwaukee:

Has anyone heard if Subsonics are doing any live shows in the near future?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm
efd:

^^^ does slow burn
  10:59pm
Danne D:

Love this song
  11:00pm
G:

Could he be serious? SRSLY
  11:01pm
G:

The Subsonics inquirer.
  11:02pm
G:

Maybe he means outside NYC
  11:02pm
Danne D:

Is the lead singer previously from Velocity Girl?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm
efd:

I'm confident he was kidding.
  11:08pm
Rickwaukee:

I feel all T-Rexy after those last two
  11:09pm
G:

man, i need tv when i got t-rex?
  11:11pm
Danne D:

*sigh* Maxwell's is so much harder to get to now with no PATH service :(

Quite like this one. Kept me from going to the garage to change the laundry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm
efd:

Yeah, that Thomas Function is a good one InBrkly! An efd classic, as it were.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm

whoops unless you were talking about Ruckus Roboticus, of course!
  11:26pm
SteveL:

Any music that prevents the completion of chores is alright by me.
  11:31pm
sweet cheri:

evan, i just can't wait for your funky xmas show! btw have you got a favorite xnas tune? my favorite xmas tune is "silent night"
  11:33pm
sweet cheri:

happy holidays everybody!!
  11:34pm
InBrkly:

Nah I meant Thomas Function. Changed the laundry after that and now dig'n The Associates.
  11:36pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Even the fact that you see the associates album cover when you look up "Reverb" in the dictionary doesn't stop the album from sporting 3 or 4 ace singles.
  11:38pm
Shane Victorino:

Yeah!
  11:41pm
Joe D.:

hell yeah social media airhorn!!!!
  11:42pm
Rickwaukee:

is someone playing soccer?
  11:43pm
SteveL:

Blow daddy, blow.
  11:43pm
Mary Wing in the library (with a poin-ted stick):

Was that a real airhorn, or a virtual airhorn?
  11:44pm
sweet cheri:

i'm sorry i'm late evan, but i was at a xmas party tonight. please forgive me..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm
efd:

Mary, you'll see when you come into the studio.

Hi cheri, 2 weeks til the Christmas show.

Not sure I"m any happier about Shane Victorino turning up on the comments board than I am about him joining the Red Sox. Which is to say, not that happy.
  11:48pm
Joe D.:

Spanish Moss is on Burger too. Im probably just gonna cancel my jihad :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm
efd:

Well this release is on Spot-On Sound, if that's any consolation. I get what you're saying about the cassettes (as I hinted at on Facebook last night), but they put out such great records that I can't hate on them for that. Plus they were super-nice when I went to the store in September. And they're nice to animals!
  11:52pm
steve:

i found a copy of the Infinity PEople record (co-released on Burger) right after the show last week! so awesome
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm
efd:

oh good steve! That's a great album.
  11:53pm
Danne D:

Thanks for a great show Evan :)

I'm taking off after this song.

Have a great night everyone :) See some of you at the Bell House on the 7th I hope :)
  11:54pm
12539:

Thanks for the rollicking show, Evan.
(listening in secret silence, as I often do)
  11:54pm
Uncle Michael:

You don't love the flyin' Hawaiian, efd?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm
efd:

see you there, Danne!

Thanks 12539!

Uncle Michael, no, I'm not really a fan -- especially if it's laying the groundwork for an Ellsbury trade as some suspect.
  11:58pm
steve:

i hope the airhorn accented social media becomes a recurring segment.
  11:58pm
Uncle Michael:

I think he's a bad signing mainly because of his age.

The only time I ever saw the JSBE, they were opening for Bostonian friends.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59pm
efd:

@steve I think it has to now!
  11:59pm
SteveL:

Did the Lyres ever play with the Fleshtones? (Wild guess of the night.)
  12:00am
Uncle Michael:

Thanks for the show, efd.
  12:00am
Rickwaukee:
