Tony Coulter:

Greetings, all. Today's show will be heavy on psych and prog ... unless the Lizard Squad takes us down, that is.

listener james from westwood:

Hey, Tony and all! Snow has not entombed me here in NJ, so I await the psych/prog blast with ears unclogged by snow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm
Uncle Michael:

Stream loudly so I can hear you in the shower.
Avatar 12:01pm
Tony Coulter:

I will stream at the top of my lungs.

Heya Uncle M and Listener J!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm
Doug Schulkind:

Maybe you should just steam, Tony.

Rich in Washington:

Greetings, Tony!
Good day, fellow Coulterites!
Avatar 12:14pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey there, Rich in Washington (but poor in Oregon?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
Rich in Washington:

I am! Historically, SW Washingtonians have this reputation of only crossing the border to buy stuff tax free. Plus, everything is there.
I have purposely curtailed most of my trips across the river to save money. It's not fair. P-Towners have all the record stores!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
Rich in Washington:

So, long story short - when I'm in Oregon, I feel poor.
Avatar 12:24pm
Tony Coulter:

The incredible number of record stores in Portland is definitely bad for my finances -- but good for this show, I suppose.
Avatar 12:28pm
Tony Coulter:

For example, everything in the set so far was purchased in a Portland record store -- all of it used, btw.
Avatar 12:30pm
Carmichael:

Heya Tony, I loves me some prog!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
DCE:

used music is best anyway!
Avatar 12:37pm
Tony Coulter:

Greets, Carmichael! Prog will definitely burst forth at some point today....
Avatar 12:39pm
Tony Coulter:

This set, though, will be all Jesus-themed.
Avatar 12:39pm
Tony Coulter:

Not that the Lord doesn't like a spot of prog.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm
DCE:

is there such a thing as Jesus-prog? I would have to imagine...
Avatar 12:41pm
Tony Coulter:

Definitely! There's plenty of it, actually.
Avatar 12:41pm
Flash Strap:

I gotta thank you for turning me on to that Sgt. Death record
Avatar 12:41pm
Flash Strap:

Yeah, seems like a lot of classic prog has a crypto-christ component
  12:41pm
Dean:

To think that Silmaril was recorded shortly after "Selling England by the Pound" appeared. I'm thinking these folks are as Genesis- as Jesus-themed.
  12:43pm
Dean:

And this Ken Gaub precedes Christopher Cross by a year!
Avatar 12:43pm
Tony Coulter:

Greetings, Flash Strap and Dean!!

Here's a good Jesus prog album: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
Doug Schulkind:

@Flash Strap
There's a mighty thin line between crypto-christ and Creepy Christ.
Avatar 12:52pm
glenn:

hell, if there's jesus porn, there's definitely jesus prog.

the Canterbury wood-elf:

Hey Tony. Is this really a 2015 release? The last time i heard anything quite this bizarre was on Marty McSorley's show a couple of weeks ago when he played the WHOLE of L. Ron Hubbard's "Space Jazz" album ("soundtrack" to his novel "Battlefield Earth"). Also born of religious fervour (even if he made up the religion himself). Check that one, people, if you haven't heard it (some big name jazz players were hired for it too).
  1:01pm
Dean:

Composed in 2012: http://www.erlingwold.com/works.html Brand spanking new.
Avatar 1:02pm
Tony Coulter:

Heya, Canterbury Wood-Elf! Yes, the Wold is a 2015 release. In fact it was released ... today!! The opera itself is from 2012, though, as Dean said.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
DCE:

the Wold is a ghetto
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:12pm
listener james from westwood:

Released today! Hot off the pressing!
Avatar 1:18pm

Yes, thankfully a few labels are still sending me advance promos out here in the boonies (hint, hint).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm

this is great!
Avatar 1:30pm
Tony Coulter:

Believe it or not, this Jimmy Smack features processed bagpipes!
  1:33pm
Dean:

Are those like processed lunch meats?
Avatar 1:36pm
Tony Coulter:

Yes. Not as fresh-tasting as wild-caught bagpipes.
Avatar 1:36pm
northguineahills:

Sitting here w/o hot water or heat since yesterday afternoon (hot water heater is kaput again). Freezing my keister off. The landlord gave us a decent space heater, but that just sucks electricity like nobody's business.
Avatar 1:37pm
Tony Coulter:

You need an outer space heater. Hope things warm up soon!

Wonderfully odd set, Tony!
Listened to it all soaking in a hot tub, trying to burn off this infernal chest cold that's currently making the rounds.
Avatar 1:55pm

Stay away from Rich, infernal chest cold!
Avatar 1:58pm
Tony Coulter:

No, this isn't *that* Colours (the one on Dot Records).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm
Uncle Michael:

I initially confused Colours with Coloured Balls.
Avatar 2:01pm
Tony Coulter:

Coloured Balls are so embarrassing in the locker room.
Avatar 2:03pm

Worse than Deflated Balls.

you think Tom Brady suffers from that, Carm?
Avatar 2:09pm
northguineahills:

I might have to disassemble my hydra, the heat is finally back on.......
Avatar 2:09pm
Carmichael:

I think this is more like Space Folk, if there is such a category.
Avatar 2:11pm
Carmichael:

@DCE, I think Bellichick suffers from that. Tom Brady is a Ken doll, with no genitalia at all.
