Ike:

Please no spoilers, but was the premiere good? Haven't seen it yet. All I've heard is that it's a nice dose of Lynch dread and terror. Looking forward to some long drawn-out scenes where Lynch trolls the audience with hilarious stuff like the old guy in the season 2 premiere who hobbled around talking about milk and didn't even notice that Coop was bleeding out on the floor. (One of my fave scenes.)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm

@Ike - Fatty Jubbo asked "is it weird like Eraserhead or unwatchable like Inland Empire?" -- Yes. Definitely worth watching, either way
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm
Polyus:

@ Ike - what I will say is that it feels much less like a continuation of the old series than it does a continuation of what Lynch has been up to in recent years, i.e. Inland Empire, Mullholland Drive, even Lost Highway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm
Scott Williams:

@ngh, it ain't easy!
Avatar 🧩 3:49pm
Ike:

Possibly an unpopular opinion among Lynch fans but I wasn't crazy about Inland Empire at ALL, but loved Mulholland (wish that had gone to series, since it was partly a pilot originally) and Lost Highway. I hope it ain't too Inland-y.

zopa:

what is in Donahue's basement?!
Avatar 🧩 3:51pm
Ike:

For those who want to go legit to see it, I hear that you can add Showtime to an Amazon Prime subscription. Or Hulu, perhaps. It's cheaper than cable that way, but not cheap.

Cliff (temporarily not) in Prague:

I actually sat through Inland Empire in a movie theater. I still don't know what the heck it was about.

Not being able to see Twin Peaks is really annoying. I really liked Inland Empire, the last fiction movie I saw, when it came out

I used to DJ before a late night Reggae DJ who would bring his background music all the way down every time he talked and bring it way up in even short pauses. No one knew why he did that. It was really dumb sounding.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm
fred:

@tomasz.: apart from the accident scene, it was far from Lynch's "usual" output
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm
Rich in Washington:

Straight Story is so strangely non-Lynchian. It's as if he wanted to see if he could make a very mainstream movie just for shits n' giggles.
I guess Cronenberg approached making mainstream movies in an experimental way, starting with Eastern Promise.
