I won't bring up any subjects because I don't want to bring up the subject we're not talking about. That would be a faux pas, no? Oh no, I hope what we're not supposed to talk about is talking about what we're not talking about! Am I in trouble?! Arrrgh!

Great film.

Also interesting story about the filming of that 1960's LotF movie - many non-actors and shot on a remote island with natural background sounds and little to no rehearsal makes for a creepy realism. I think there's a documentary about that out there somewhere...

For a second there, I thought it was Thursday and this was Strength Through Failure. That subgenre (sub-subgenre?) is usually Fabio's domain.

Wondering if someone will eventually do a whole marathon premium of moaning-lady songs.

anyone have any fave faux-gasm records? Aphrodite's Child / Irene Papas "Infinity" gets my vote. The Welsh band Man did a pretty silly one

@Dean, it's their 1st album, Revelation - the song's called Erotica; the claim is it was the studio receptionist

i cant deal with that stuff but i love the few seconds of chopped up moaning in Aphex Twin Windowlicker

Thanks, @Scott. I've seen the album a number of times, never heard it.

There was a funny faux-gasm number on 3 Feet High and Rising but I don't remember the name.

What about crying? I can think of many examples, but one I haven't heard in a while is U-ziq's "Mr. Angry".

Then there's Jim Backus's "Delicious" for laughter.

@NGH, I thought that was screaming. Or maybe it's edited so that it's hard to tell. "Mr. Angry" always drove me crazy. It was the only track on that album I didn't like. @Steve, I'm usually w/you, maybe b/c I'm descended from repressed Protestants. Or maybe it's the fakey performative quality that bothers me. Not sure.

@Ike: When I was a freshman in college, I would pick up my friend who went to a rural HS 45 minutes away. I would park near the redneck pickups and blast "Mr Angry" to confounded looks. Oh, to be young and dumb again...
