Good Evening

Eddy in Australia:

@Evan: No big deal but you played Reach The Top off the Are You Old Enough album. Dragon were a NZ band that moved, like many others before and after, to Australia. Huge in the '70s and '80s. I'm sure some version still exists but only one original member survives (and he's not the singer).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm
efd:

whoops, did I transpose the song and album when I backannounced? I have it listed the right way in the playlist. Did not realize they were from NZ originally!
  9:46pm
Eddy in Australia:

P.S. You'd love a lot of Dragon's records. I think their very early NZ stuff might even have been a bit weird/hippyish, before they became a pop band in Australia.
  9:48pm
Eddy in Australia:

@Evan: As it happens, the song Are You Old Enough is pure pop, although a bit pervy!

Hey, Helta Skelta!!!

Evan, a pleasure to catch your show again. Digging this "the myrmidons" track.

Dumb q: is Hozac short for Horizontal Action? I heard tom scharpling say that, but, a joke?

Austin HBP. Benches cleared. Big scrum from the pitchers mound towards the Red Sox dugout. Looked worse than it was.

Hey Evan. I’m an Evan too. Great show. Good tunes. Thanks dude.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm
efd:

@herb it does, and it's not such a dumb question because I didn't make that connection until relatively recently. (Horizontal Action was (is?) a fanzine run by the same dude who runs HoZac records)
  10:09pm
egould310:

Haha! I was just listening to Habibi at work, just before tuning into this show. Nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm
Alex of Chicago:

yes. hozac == horizontal action the zine
  10:10pm
Eddy in Australia:

Whoa, Habibi have gotten really good! (Or at least much better than early releases.)
  10:11pm
Stevel:

Hozac! The more you know!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm
Alex of Chicago:

horizontal action was a garage punk zine that mixed music stuff with crappy porn (ironically, maybe). they became a label and ditched the porn
  10:12pm
Eddy in Australia:

@Evan: I see what you did there! (Thanks for the shout-out, by the way.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm
efd:

if I were really clever I'd have played them back to back!
  10:17pm
Eddy in Australia:

I thought of that but figured you were avoiding the obvious. Or something.
  10:19pm
Stevel:

There are no accidents. Only unexpected opportunities.
  10:21pm
JakeGould:

Oh man… Thanks for the “Christine” cover and the “Habibi.” *big thumbs up emoji*
  10:21pm
herb.nyc:

Thx on Hozac; unaware of zine. I'll bet in years to come, someone will be inspired by Hozac and start a label called Chaoz.
