	9:29am Daybreak the Teacher: @Trouble - college essay advice: you can’t wait until you’re so frustrated with your kid that you explode and demand: do it now! Since it is the summer, structure free / school is out time, you need to both agree to put down your phones for 15 to come up with a short written agreement. X much done by Y point. Repeat until done. Having an written down can be a huge help, but only if you do it together. You can set the terms together (consequences for failure to meet deadlines) so that you both know what the terms are and have agreed. Plus the bonus for your kid is that agreement time isn’t start the essay NOW time. It give them space to shift back into that mode. Hope this helps!

	10:44am melinda: My local library was gifted the entire collection of dvds from the local video store when they closed a few years ago, including their Criterions. It sometimes easier to just choose from the Criterions and not bother with the main section.

Managing about 10 pages a night of that one – it's a long-term project.

	11:25am Ike: I've been listening to the audiobook of Charles Stross's "Atrocity Archives." Oddly I've read later books in this series but never this one, which is the first (but most are stand-alones anyway). It's actually two novellas. In the first, British counter-occult bureaucrats have to stop "reality incursions" from evil extra-dimensional critters and/or undead Nazis that want to eat our brains... while squabbling over timesheets and missing overtime paperwork.

	9:29am Daybreak the Teacher: @Trouble - college essay advice: you can’t wait until you’re so frustrated with your kid that you explode and demand: do it now! Since it is the summer, structure free / school is out time, you need to both agree to put down your phones for 15 to come up with a short written agreement. X much done by Y point. Repeat until done. Having an written down can be a huge help, but only if you do it together. You can set the terms together (consequences for failure to meet deadlines) so that you both know what the terms are and have agreed. Plus the bonus for your kid is that agreement time isn’t start the essay NOW time. It give them space to shift back into that mode. Hope this helps!

	11:25am Ike: I've been listening to the audiobook of Charles Stross's "Atrocity Archives." Oddly I've read later books in this series but never this one, which is the first (but most are stand-alones anyway). It's actually two novellas. In the first, British counter-occult bureaucrats have to stop "reality incursions" from evil extra-dimensional critters and/or undead Nazis that want to eat our brains... while squabbling over timesheets and missing overtime paperwork.
