A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

I just looked at the Wikipedia entry for DUH, and I was pretty sure the one I remembered was from the 1980s, being interviewed on Pat Duncan's show, or maybe Frank O'Toole's, where when they were asked, "What does `DUH' stand for?" they'd answer, "Mostly, it's political. We stand for...." etc. So not this ad hoc thing from 1990. But then, my memory could be way off.

There's a great clip of the Honeycombs on Youtube, from one of those odd "Here's a bunch of bands on a soundstage" films from the '60s. I caught it on TCM a few years ago, and their performance made my jaw drop (despite the... unfortunate presence of Jimmy Savile introducing).

Was just talking about ToTPs the other day with someone and we wondered if they could just CGI Savile out with some digitally simulated presenter.

@PW-I guess its just about enjoying the ride. The characters and dialog are pretty good. The ideas are really pretty amazing actually.

@tadpoles That's it! Even after the wave of sickly revelations about men in show-biz, the stuff Savile did stands out as really, singularly horrific.
