Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from May 31, 2019 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

I just found a quote from Xenakis regarding Persepolis: “neither a work of theater, nor a ballet, nor an event. It is visual symbolism, paralleled in sound, and in the end it is sound –music—that must prevail at all costs.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
G:

Interesting background on the event where the original "Persepolis" was performed... Wiki:

"The 2,500 year celebration of the Persian Empire consisted of an elaborate set of festivities that took place on 12–16 October 1971 to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the Imperial State of Iran and the Achaemenid Empire by Cyrus the Great. The intent of the celebration was to demonstrate Iran's ancient civilization and history and to showcase its contemporary advances under His Imperial Majesty Mohammad Reza Shah.... The extravagance of the celebrations was striking. Some later historians came to think that this excess... contributed to events that resulted in the Iranian Revolution."

I'm just guessing the future Revolutionary Guard wouldn't have been huge Xenakis/avant-garde music fans...

_De natura sonorum_ is Classical Latin for "On the Nature of Sounds." It's kind of a play on the title of Lucretius's 1C BCE epic/didactic poem _De natura rerum_ (On the Nature of Things).

The structure is beautiful: meaningless reference to FUV (which, while it does some things right, is several orders below FMU), pejorative yet evocatively poetical description of the Bryce aesthetic, and then a fiercely self-important statement that, hey man, I took time out of my busy day to "thrash this bullshit."
