As an aside... my brother-in-law Ronnie Ruff also played saxophone and flute in St Louis back in the day and hung with John and Miles and even though he was a white boy they all used to take him under their wings...true story!!!

  8:07pm
CC:

The dog here seems a little unsure what to make of this one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm
KimSorise:

Most certainly, Jeff. I am sure my face was much the same when my dad gave me this LP at 16 or so.
Caycee seems a bit twitchy eared as well. Fred is asleep; we’ve been together too long to notice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm

And there it is, thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm

Yes, Jeff; I was. I really did have to put it away for about 15 or so years until I could even begin to grasp it.

Avatar 8:58pm
northguineahills:

@coel: It was the "out-jazz" that really grabbed me at first when I was 18, I worked my way backwards after that. Late Coltrane was one my introductions to jazz....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm
coelacanth∅:

yeah actually i doubt i close to grasped it before at least 34 years old, working my way back from David Ware...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm
coelacanth∅:

ngh at 18 i felt pretty proud of myself for not listening to commercial radio. ...a start.
