@C.S. I can seriously emphasize with that. I used to get "What are listening to NOW" (or it's sidekick "WHAT are you LISTENING TO?") a couple times a week from the family members I live with, now they don't even bother to say anything. My friends are of the age that if it ain't classic rock or country they aren't listening.

Friday afternoon is Marbles in a Blender time in my office. Family stays away. and I agree about how dreadful it would be to listen to the same stuff again and again, but I can understand. Some people just get stuck in the place where they were happiest, in music, clothes, etc. My brother-in-law is one of those people. I've known him for about 35 years and he's changes he's hairstyle once, still wears golf polos, khakis, and Levis exclusively, and only listens to classic rock. There's actually research out there that says that listening to familiar music stimulates feel-good endorphins, particularly in those stuck in the past folks

Hi Julie and fellow listeners. Good to hear your show again, missed last show though. Well there are the archives, from where I checked out the Kinks "70s show" recently. Interesting that you played Jack The Idiot Dunce there, its Finnish cover version - "Jerry Cotton" by Kontra - was something of a hit here around late 70s.

βrian:

I grew up in a percolator household, so it was easy to avoid coffee. But then I lived in France.
  1:27pm
Mr Nobody:

Coffee wasn't terribly big in our house. When I visited either set of grandparents there would always be a pot going. Some of my early memories are sitting with my grandfather having a cup of coffee with him before we went out to tend the animals.
Avatar 🦇 1:28pm
Julie:

I don't even like the smell. Too connected with mom & dad and early mornings from childhood
  1:29pm
Mr Nobody:

Now I do drink a decent bit but usually not first thing in the morning. I cannot remember the last time I had a cup before I got to the office. Once here though I usually keep my cup topped off. I think it is more habit than needing a caffeine fix.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:30pm

I'm heading off the board but will be listening via headphones while I get some yard work in before the ice age starts again tomorrow. Thank you Julie, will catch you next week or on the twitterverse!

Used to be coffee was utilitarian. Drank it at the office just to get through work.
Then I had a good cup from a french press. Game over.

My wife needs a cup before she gets out of bed. It has its own place near the foundation on her hierarchy of needs.

The smell of acrid percolator coffee the first thing in the morning can be quite off-putting.

But when a sweetie serves you a good cup of filter-brewed coffee while cooing in your ear ... well, that changes things.

Our dining room is decorated with coffee paraphernalia. Drip, several presses, old percolators, coffee cart, themed paintings, mugs, grinders and bags of beans. Even the walls are painted like coffee and cream. Coffee is an essential part of life in the Nobody household.
Avatar 1:39pm

Espresso while camping is a favorite treat. Intensely deep, dark coffee in a steel cup.

Hearing the distinctive clink as you toast your sweetie in the early morning chill. Ah, yes!
