Tony Coulter:

Hey, all! Does anyone recognize today's mystery LP-under-the-cassettes? It's from the U.K., and is often called one of the first Brit punk LPs -- although I wouldn't call it that myself.

Howdy, Tony and all! No guess on our foundation, but happy for the array of oxide upon it!

Ether? This would explain my dizzyness or is it the wah wah fuzz guitar?

Why does this song sound familiar? The one that just ended. Ascension.

Is this the hidden Piet Mondrian secret LP ?
Avatar 12:17pm
Tony Coulter:

Hi, Kay! The undercover album is British and is from 1977. It's usually labeled punk, although I don't think it really is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
chresti:

1988- the year my son was born!
Avatar 12:18pm
Tony Coulter:

@ rw: Not sure why it sounded familiar to you. What I will say, though, is that Gentlemaniac's guitar playing is rather Eugene Chadbourne-ish.
Avatar 12:21pm
Tony Coulter:

And, indeed, Chadbourne guests on one live track on side B.

Hi, hi, hi, Summer and Michael and Sylvia!
  2:01pm
rw:

You've been at this a long time so I know you know, but I remember being on college radio years ago, playing what I thought was amazing stuff, getting no phone calls and wondering if anyone was listening. Then the next day at class I'd hear about how good the show was. I think if it's really good, people get caught up listening and stop calling (commenting). That's my theory, anyway!
Avatar 2:02pm

@ Hidden Identity:

"If you dont like what a militant musician plays. Does he kill yo?"

Avatar 2:07pm
Tony Coulter:

@ rw: Things is, I have a lot of free improv tapes in this vein, but haven't played many on Tape Hiss, because (maybe mistakenly?) I've sort of assumed that's not what the "Tape Hiss audience" wants to hear, if only because I've mostly been playing other sorts of things. But please correct me if I'm wrong, anyone.
Avatar 2:07pm
Tony Coulter:

There's some circularity in what I'm saying there, but....
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:09pm

Avatar 2:13pm

@ Yvang: Thanks for the input. I don't worry about how people will react when it comes to my regular freeform show, but a little more when it comes to 60/90-minute tapes. But I will now cast aside worry....
