A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

  9:33am
pierre:

If only this movie:
— http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Classe_américaine —
would have been translated, you would be in for an awesome laugh, it bacame a classic amongst people who like a good laugh. It has been made by Hazanavicius in his early days, and, to me, remains one of his best movie.

i saw a martin r 18 in a music store not long ago. a martin archtop. who knew?

pierre I had one once when I shaved off a beard but each time I shaved it got narrower 'till it became a toothbrush like a famous Austrian. It had to go. You have to go to Turkey to see a decent one these days.

@pierre, that looks awesome. Hopefully they'll translate it when he wins an oscar.

@ Brian : True, i've seen good ones in Ireland and Scotland, but they were burnt by smoking pipes.

@ Mike : The thing is with "la classe americaine" (translated — the american classy style —) it's just bits of movies, with very very famous comedians, from also famous movies. So it's impossible to release it. The way the film is made, it's making it impossible to release in any ways. The film shoot itself in the foot, which is not to unplease me.
  9:42am
Mike East:

@glenn, that's gorgeous - cheaper than I would have expected for a vintage '33.

i thought so too. folkway is a great shop.

@pierre - the wiki article says Warner Bros. released the film clips to them - perhaps limited rights, then. Ever seen "What's Up Tiger Lily?" (Japanese action film with redubs by Woody Allen)?

No, but now i will, thanks for the advice ;)

Thanks for the record info - the hated itunes had the mali but not mellow cats. Our good record store (cd's) closed. Alas, I am partly to blame. The itunes is pretty damn convenient since I listen to internet radio (FIP when WFMU is not doing it for me) or ipod exclusively.
