I knew she liked Johnny Cash and the Carter Family, so when she was visiting a few weeks ago, I played one of Honky Tonk Radio Girl premiums, and by the time she left, I converted her to most country music, (pre-mid 80s).

	11:08am Wild Neil: @Dave in Vermont-1300AM where I live (near Buffalo) plays really great country music from the 40's-70's (Cash, Wynette, Parton, et al..Hank Williams Sr., the guy from Hee Haw). It is really awesome. The FM station, however, makes me puke with their saccherine fake country bullshit, I HATE listening to that station. My wife used to like it (she is from Poland) but I think I converted her to he AM station. She made fun of me because "only old people listen to AM" in Poland. AM is "old fashioned". AM GOES FURTHER. Wouldn't it be awesome if FMU Was on AM, people in Cleveland could tune in at night! Truckers, etc.

	11:12am ⓔⓘⓚ: AM is too sensitive to electronics, though, so there's a lot of interference that wasn't there in the old days, making it even less functional than ever. Smaller AM stations, which don't do the far-reaching signal thing, are dying. Plus, classic country sounds awesome on AM but a lot of other music sounds atrocious on AM.

	11:17am steveo: I was amazed as a kid that we could pick up Phillies games on the AM radio while visiting family in Pittsburgh. Later in Brooklyn, I could no longer do it because ... you guessed it, Ike ... pirates (and not the Pittsburgh kind). (I don't think the Phillies flagship is even on AM anymore, and I haven't been so into baseball lately...) EVERYBODY PLEDGE!!!!

Still for driving AM is a pretty good companion with talk radio. For me, anyway. Smaller AM radio would be an interesting study for an NPR show or something...or somebody on Youtube. Somebody who drives a lot would be an ideal investigator. I know a guy who travels a lot, I will ask if he is open to finding odd AM staions. PLEDGE and have a heart! It is really awesome. The FM station, however, makes me puke with their saccherine fake country bullshit, I HATE listening to that station. My wife used to like it (she is from Poland) but I think I converted her to he AM station. She made fun of me because "only old people listen to AM" in Poland. AM is "old fashioned". AM GOES FURTHER. Wouldn't it be awesome if FMU Was on AM, people in Cleveland could tune in at night! Truckers, etc.

Smaller AM stations, which don't do the far-reaching signal thing, are dying. Plus, classic country sounds awesome on AM but a lot of other music sounds atrocious on AM.

Later in Brooklyn, I could no longer do it because ... you guessed it, Ike ... pirates (and not the Pittsburgh kind). (I don't think the Phillies flagship is even on AM anymore, and I haven't been so into baseball lately...) EVERYBODY PLEDGE!!!!
